Dr Jonker performs stereotactic radiosurgery using both the
Novalis Tx and the Gamma Knife. Stereotactic radiosurgery is a precise and minimally invasive technique developed by neurosurgeons to treat brain tumours, trigeminal neuralgia and AVM's using highly focussed radiation delivered precisely to
the target.
This life changing surgery treats the symptoms of Parkinson's Disease and other movement disorders, providing significant improvement to patient quality of life. Dr Jonker is the lead neurosurgeon for the
St Vincent's DBS programme.
This incisionless procedure results in the reduction or elimination of tremor for sufferers of Essential Tremor, Dystonia and Parkinson's disease. It is a new technology which utilises more than 1000 individual ultrasound beams to target the problem area. Dr Jonker was the first neurosurgeon in Australia to offer this treatment.
