Revolutionary treatment to control tremors now within reach

There’s new hope for Australians living with a debilitating neurological condition which leaves them unable to perform basic tasks. The federal government has agreed to subsidise a revolutionary treatment, making it available to thousands more sufferers.

It’s a life changing breakthrough for Chris Borton, who has lived with a neurological condition called Essential Tremor since he was a teenager.

“I feel like I’ve just experienced something miraculous” says Chris – a miracle of medical science that’s now within reach for thousands more Australians with the same symptoms.

Using an MRI machine, doctors can pinpoint the part of the brain causing the tremor, and then fire a thousand ultrasound beams into it, delivering targeted therapy, stopping the shake.

“We love it because it does change people’s lives” says Dr Benjamin Jonker, neurosurgeon.
