Health Alert
Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Australian health systems are currently preparing for a significant increase in cases of COVID-19. There is no current vaccine for COVID-19, and vaccines in development will take around 18 months to become commercially available. In the meantime, all Australians can take steps to slow the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

Please practice social distancing, maintain good hand hygiene and keep informed regarding the governments guidelines for home isolation and restricted activities. Detailed information regarding the current status of the Coronavirus pandemic can be found on the Department of Health’s Coronavirus webpage or for general information please call the coronavirus information line on 1800 020 080.

We are monitoring this developing situation and endeavouring to make decisions with patient, staff and doctor health and safety as our primary concern. To that end, we have made changes to the way our practice is operating. If you are unsure regarding an upcoming appointment of procedure, please  call our office on 1300 174 497 for details pertaining to your individual situation.

Dr Jonker is now offering both face-to-face and Telehealth consultations. Our office will be in contact with patients in the lead up to their appointments to discuss arrangements, guided by the current rulings set out by the Health Department at that time. We are happy to discuss the various face-to-face or Telehealth video-conferencing alternatives to see which would best suit your situation.

Due to social distancing restrictions we have put various measures in place in our rooms including limiting the number of people in our waiting room, and limiting the number of people attending a consultation to two – the patient and one accompanying person. If you have any queries regarding this matter, please contact our rooms to discuss.

Elective and non-elective surgeries are now proceeding. Our office will be in contact with patients who have had surgeries postponed to discuss re-scheduling and arrangements, guided by the current rulings set out by the Health Department at that time.

Dr Jonker continues to accept new referrals for patients with urgent and non-urgent conditions during this time. Provision has been made for the assessment of urgent cases so that patients requiring critical care for neurosurgical conditions can be reviewed and treated as soon as possible.

Dr Jonker and the practice team are currently working on-site and remotely to ensure best patient care and communication during this time. Please call or email if you have any concerns or queries regarding your care.
