UPDATE
Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Australian health systems are currently delivering vaccines for COVID-19 to the community. Whilst the vaccination programme continues, all Australians can continue to follow health guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community. Please practice social distancing, maintain good hand hygiene and keep informed regarding the government’s guidelines for home isolation and restricted activities.

Detailed information regarding the current status of the Coronavirus pandemic can be found on the Department of Health’s Coronavirus webpage or for general information please call the coronavirus information line on 1800 020 080.

In order to protect the safety of all patients, staff and visitors, St Vincent’s Health Australia, St Vincent’s Private Hospital, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Chris O’Brien Lifehouse have strict policies in place. If you are visiting or being admitted into the hospital or clinic, you will be appropriately screened in accordance with the hospital’s guidelines. There may also be requirements in regards to vaccination and/or a negative Covid test.

Consultations

Dr Jonker continues to offer both face-to-face and Telehealth consultations. Our office will be in contact with patients in the lead up to their appointments to discuss arrangements, guided by the current rulings set out by the Health Department at that time. We are happy to discuss the various face-to-face or Telehealth video-conferencing alternatives to see which would best suit your situation.

We have a Covid Safety Plan in place and operate our clinics in accordance with NSW Health and St Vincent’s Private Hospital directives.  We have put various measures in place in our rooms including:

  • pre-appointment screening
  • limiting the number of people in our waiting room
  • limiting the number of people attending a consultation
  • masks worn where recommended

There may also be requirements in regards to vaccination and/or a negative Covid test result for face-to-face consultations. Please contact our rooms if you have any queries regarding this matter.

Please do not attend a face-to-face consultation if you have cold or flu symptoms or if you have tested positive to COVID-19.

Surgery

Elective and non-elective surgeries are proceeding as usual. Our office will be in contact with patients who have upcoming surgery to discuss scheduling and arrangements, guided by the current rulings set out by the Health Department at that time.

Referrals

Dr Jonker continues to accept new referrals for patients with urgent and non-urgent conditions. Provisions are made for the assessment of urgent cases so that patients requiring critical care for neurosurgical conditions can be reviewed and treated as soon as possible.

We are monitoring the developing situation and endeavouring to make decisions with patient, staff and doctor health and safety as our primary concern. If you have any concerns about your care, or are unsure regarding an upcoming appointment or procedure, please call our office on 1300 174 497 for details pertaining to your individual situation.
