There is no current vaccine for COVID-19, and vaccines in development will take around 18 months to become commercially available. In the meantime, all Australians can take steps to slow the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

As of Monday 23rd March 2020, Dr Jonker will no longer see patients face-to-face for consultations in the rooms at St Vincent’s Private Hospital, Lifehouse at RPA, or Byng St in Orange. Our office will be in contact with patients in the lead up to their appointments to discuss alternative arrangements, guided by the current rulings set out by the Health Department at that time. We are happy to discuss the various options with you, with Telehealth video-conferencing, phone consultations and postponing appointments being possible alternatives.
At this stage there are some limitations regarding Medicare rebates for patients in the city metro areas, but we have been advised that further provisions are due to be in place in due course.
It is likely that only urgent surgery will be performed during the time of peak coronavirus infections in public and private hospitals. If your surgery is booked for the next few weeks we will be in contact with you. Some surgeries will proceed as urgent, others will be rescheduled.
Dr Jonker continues to accept new referrals for patients with urgent and non-urgent conditions during this time. Provision has been made for the assessment of urgent cases so that patients requiring critical care for neurosurgical conditions can be reviewed and treated as soon as possible.
Although we will not be meeting with you face-to-face in the rooms, Dr Jonker and the practice team are currently working on-site and remotely to ensure best patient care and communication during this time. Please call or email if you have any concerns or queries regarding your care.
